Culture Clash By Victor Paruta Perhaps I’ve been naïve, but I am just now realizing that there are people out there who not only don’t understand the New Age, but actually fear and loathe it and anyone who believe in it. Maybe I’ve been lucky to not have experienced major antagonism from non-believers in the past 30 years, but during this time of social, economic and environmental uncertainty, it seems that fundamentalists are getting nervous. The energy that holistic practitioners work with is the Universal Energy of God. It is known by many names: The Tao, Manna, The Presence, The Silence, The Eternal Now, Brahman, Grace, Universal Life Energy, The All That Is, Chi, Prana, etc. This energy was palpable at last November’s Victory of Light Psychic Festival. It was clear, vibrant and alive. Occasionally someone comes into this field of transformative energy and becomes filled with rage. This was a writer’s response in an article he wrote about the festival. I wondered why he was so offended by the concept of Universal Energy. His reaction to the show and everything associated with it was so over the top, it was obvious that the lid was being pried loose from a deep and powerful wound. Perhaps he was the victim of spiritual abuse and the energy of the festival, the universal energy, which always seeks to bring unbalanced energy into balance, was working on him. I discovered from a reliable source that the writer had attended Seminary after a traumatic time at a Catholic High School, planning to become a priest, later dropping out, disenchanted with the faith. Obviously his knowledge and belief in the Catholic faith were strong as were his inner conflicts. Certainly he believed in the fundamentalist Catholic creed that only Catholics can be saved; all non-Catholics “without doubt will perish eternally.” The incident caused me to reflect on issues that have regularly arisen in my work as a New Age teacher and guide. First, why do some people assume that New Agers are not Christians? Or, that in order to remain good Christians we must refrain from a personal exploration of our spiritual natures? In fact, I consider myself a Christian, though I also have respect and admiration for many cross-cultural spiritual teachings, teachers and traditions. My spirituality is a living and vibrant spirituality without need for a middleman. New Agers, also known as “Cultural Creatives”, comprise an established and rapidly growing social movement estimated at about a quarter of the population of the U.S. and Europe. In studies, New Agers are consistently the third largest “religious” group after Cultural Christians (those who celebrate Christmas & Easter) and Conventional Christians. However, the New Age movement is not a formal religion. It has no separate holy book, central organization, membership, formal clergy, dogma or creed. It tends to be free flowing and inclusive. Its believers and practitioners share similar beliefs and practices and integrate them into their formal religious practices if they have any. New Agers seek a personal connection with God, to live with awareness and a sense of social and environmental stewardship. Many conservative Christian churches are threatened by the growth of New Age beliefs. Many promote lies and misinformation campaigns to discredit the New Age movement. Some Catholics mistakenly believe that the New Age movement is diabolical and has infiltrated their church. Some conservative Christians believe that there is a highly organized and massive New Age organization which is infiltrating government, media, schools and churches. But there is nothing of the sort. People are just waking up. And as they do so, the powers-that-be panic because they are losing control of their previously fearful flocks as they come out of the Dark Ages one by one.

The Meaning of Mediumship By Chad Seibert
Knowing that we are still connected to our loved ones that have passed on to the other side is an empowering insight. With the process of mediumship having been brought to the forefront of mainstream culture in the last two decades, the idea of communicating with the ‘other side’ is no longer a taboo subject. Add to that the growing amount of evidence and research being conducted and the topic is gaining widespread acceptance. It is now commonplace to overhear in a conversation someone sharing the signs they have received from their loved ones in spirit. Someone in spirit visiting a family member in a dream, smelling familiar fragrances of the cologne or perfume of the departed, and amazing synchronicities are all becoming interesting discussions at family events. But why is this all becoming prevalent now? What is the meaning behind mediumship? Perhaps one of the greatest attributes of the knowledge that our soul consciousness continues after physical death is that we become less fearful of our own mortality. This leads us to question many things and gives us an opportunity to learn about ourselves through self-reflection and discovery. We start to become more open, both spiritually and emotionally. As our awareness expands, we begin to see the ways in which we are connected to, rather than separate from, those in our lives. This search for the feeling of connectedness is at the root of why we see mediums in the media today. If our loved ones in spirit can hear us, if they can hear our prayers and our acknowledgements of their presence, that gives us comfort. But knowing that they can communicate back to us, that they can let us know they are around, that empowers us as human beings. This two way dialogue is the most beautiful gift we could ever receive, because once we take it to heart, we know that we are no longer alone. We didn’t “lose” our loved ones and the love that we share can never be separated. Someone once shared with me that after her father’s passing she felt lost and alone. Anyone who has grieved knows that feeling well. After learning about mediumship, she felt peaceful and remarked that this process gave her her father back. While nothing could replace him in the physical, feeling connected to him did replace the emotional void she had previously felt. To know that you are always connected to those who have transitioned to spirit and that they are still a part of your life is nothing short of miraculous. It allows us to start experiencing the moments we have together with family and friends in new ways. And most importantly, it gives us the opportunity to appreciate those moments for the blessings that they truly are.

PROMISE FACTS:
History of the study of perception Perception is one of the oldest fields within scientific psychology, and there are correspondingly many theories about its underlying processes. The oldest quantitative law in psychology is the Weber-Fechner law, which quantifies the relationship between the intensity of physical stimuli and their perceptual effects. It was the study of perception that gave rise to the Gestalt school of psychology, with its emphasis on holistic approaches.

Astral Projection The method in which an individual can separate his consciousness from his physical body. (Also referred to as OBE or Out of Body Experience) This method occurs right before REM sleep. The mind is in a trance state called Focus 10. Focus 10 means the body is asleep but the mind is awake. The common effects at this point are the ability to see through closed eyelids, vibrations accruing throughout the body, and or a falling sensation. The projected double, referred to as the Astral Double, may freely move through the Astral Planes or the Real Time Zone. The real Time zone is the closest thing to the physical, and has almost every semblance to reality. The Astral planes are the higher planes in which one can travel. During a projection, people have reported, Flying, passing through solid objects, seeing into the past and future, communicating with the deceased, and visiting far away planets. This phenomenon can only be proved by the individual performing it. If you have a fast fact you'd like to share email us! This information in not intended to treat, cure or diagnose any disease. Can anyone be Psychic like Sylvia Brown or a Medium like John Edward? Yes! Being psychic is like tuning into a radio. Some radios work better than others. Some people can get a stronger signal with their radios than others. Some people have their radios on but the volume turned down. So they might be tuned to the right station but still can’t hear anything. When you seek answers from Source, it’s like trying to find a clear radio station. Be sure your radio is on, turned up, and tuned to the right frequency. Otherwise you’re going to get static, or simply hear nothing. You might think your radio is broken, when it’s actually you who is not using the equipment properly. You may need to mess with the bass or treble to hear the “song” you’re trying to hear.
